July’s Biggest Takeaway: there’s always time to re-commit to feeling good (inside, and out).

July to me kind of felt like a wake up call and a coming home to myself.

Here’s a little minute-long visual diary of how it felt…

As I stopped to reflect, I realized that throughout May and June, I got a bit disconnected from myself. I did not feel grounded, and in full transparency, my mental health was suffering a bit too. Life was feeling a little gray, my intuition felt muffled, and I was slowly slipping into avoidance and self-sabotage.

So, I decided to get real with myself and commit to a little “July reset” challenge. I outlined a list of 8 things that would help me come back home to myself, to feeling clear minded, nourished, and joyful again.

Here’s what I committed to:

I wanted to intentionally prioritize things that helped me feel good both mentally, emotionally and physically, and I also wanted to keep it slightly flexible (ex. any length of walk, journal or meditation).

Did I do all of this perfectly? No. But I did it and I embraced doing it slightly imperfectly.

While I wasn’t as consistent as I wanted to be with meditation specifically, I did meditate 10x more than I had been in MONTHS.

While I didn’t necessarily workout 5x exactly every week, I did realize 4x was more realistic for me (and stayed consistent with that frequency).

I went on more walks than I had before, journaled more, ate WAY more home cooked meals, and subconsciously reached for my water bottle a lot more too. I made new fun playlists and tapped into more joy. And little by little, I felt more grounded, more full of life, and more like myself once again.

Even though I might have missed a couple of days, I still showed up for this for ~70-80% of July, and I didn’t completely give up on myself after “missing a day”. I didn’t let myself fall to telling myself that I “messed up” if I didn’t check off every single box. And that led to more positive self talk, which kept me more motivated to keep going.

I’m leaving July feeling much more in tune with my wellness, holistically. So, let this be your reminder that you can always recommit to feeling good.

If you’ve been needing a little push, maybe create a little challenge like this for yourself! Bring a friend into it if you want some accountability. And remember to make it FUN and make it somewhat FLEXIBLE, so it’s actually sustainable.

Also: if you’ve been out of a routine or disconnected from self-care rituals, check in with yourself and figure out if maybe you need a more structure challenge like this, or to simply start small with 1-2 things at a time.

Eating seasonally is a beautiful way to show up for your body because produce is harvested at peak ripeness and therefore has a higher nutrient content, tastes fresher and more flavorful!

It’s often also good for your wallet because in-season produce is often cheaper since it’s abundant and doesn’t require expensive storage/transport.

What’s in season this month?
